TriLink Systems pioneered 3D interactive training for the power generation industry. Interactive 3D components allow the student to see places and processes that would be invisible, inaccessible or dangerous for humans to witness.
Previously, courseware was provided in printed manuals and text books with static images. Processes were described. With interactive 3D, students can now strip off casings and shielding, and see the inner workings in action.
TriLink and L3MAPPS have collaborated to produce a series of Learning Modules to teach the fundamental principles involved in common pumps and valves that are part of every power generation plant, regardless of fuel source.

Enhancing Nuclear Plant Learning
Obviously, nuclear reactors are very complex and expensive pieces of equipment. Operators need to undergo extensive training before certification. Training on a working nuclear powerplant would be financially and operationally prohibitive, therefore, much of the operator's training takes place on a simulator. TriLink worked with L3MAPPS to integrate the Bridgeworks platform with their full scope operator training simulators. The simulators are mathematical representations of the processes and states that occur inside a nuclear reactor during operation, and allow the operator to safely learn the tasks necessary for certification. The 3D visualizations give a more complete picture of what is occurring within the simulated environment than two dimensional representations of reactor states. This affords students a quicker and deeper grasp of the training material.
